Proactive Traffic Rules
Proactive Traffic Rules are a great way to protect your Vonage account against abuse. We recommend that you review and set up these rules in advance.
Vonage has applied a default set of rules blocking certain high-risk destination countries, which are listed below. You can use "allow" rules to override these "block" rules.
Please note: As long as the destination number is valid, Traffic Rule blocks are applied. Prevent extra charges due to traffic sent to invalid destination numbers by checking their validity using the Number Insight API.

Here are some rules you can set:
- Create "block" rules based on country codes or phone number prefixes, e.g., +44 (UK) or +447 (UK Mobile).
- "Block" or "allow" rules may be created for individual phone numbers. You can block a single mobile number, for example
+447970123456, or a smaller range, such as the network prefix447970. - "Block" and "allow" rules may be layered. Rules that match a larger set take priority, and where there is a tie, "allow" rules take precedence.
Here is an example with number 1 being most prioritized:
- Block
447970123456(apart from this specific number, which must be blocked) - Block
44(the UK) - Allow
447(except UK Mobile numbers, which are allowed)
You may view all captured traffic from the alerts section.
