Hello? World!
My name is Liz, and I’m excited to join Vonage as a Developer Advocate.
I’m a film student turned marketer turned engineer turned Developer Advocate. (And I’m still not sure what I want to be when I grow up!)
I love pizza, plants, pugs, and Python. I enjoy turning complex concepts into casual conversation and the magic that happens at the intersection of tech and community. I’ve had the honor of speaking at PyBay, PyCon USA, and local meetups in the San Francisco Bay Area. I desperately want to convince you that writing unit tests is actually fun and good for you. Check out my series on Dev.to to decide for yourself!
When I am not working or anxiously contemplating the meaning of life, I can be found writing corny poetry about dogs, dancing at underground art parties, advocating for more liberation-based mental health resources, and—weather permitting—praying I don’t fall dismounting the chairlift on my snowboard.
My favorite book is A Wizard of Earthsea, my favorite movie is The Dark Crystal, my favorite sculpture is Inverted Collar and Tie, my favorite punctuation mark is the now much maligned em dash, and my favorite Python context manager is the humble and tragically underutilized unittest.TestCase.subTest.These seemingly disparate interests shape how I approach developer advocacy—with empathy, unconventionality, and a focus on making technical ideas approachable and relatable. I’m eager to see how I can continue to empower developers here at Vonage.
